Welcome to Fasthosts Reviews
Welcome to Fasthosts Reviews. We aim to provide an impartial, unbiased source of reviews for Fasthosts, a UK web hosting company. If you have had past experience with Fasthosts, please write a review.
I believe Fasthosts cancellation terms contravene the UK's Unfair Terms in Consumer Contracts Regulations 1999. If you pay in advance there is no right of refund for the term of that contract (in my case 12 months). One month into the automatically renewed contract period I asked to cancel my contract. They said they could only cancel it at the expiry of the 12 months. This is effectively an 11 month cancellation period, which contravenes the UTCCR guidelines for standard contracts (which is what Fasthosts impose on their customers). Their terms also state that if you contravene their terms the can cancel your contract without refund. This is also in contravention of UK regulation for consumer contracts. What they should do according to the law is provide a pro-rata refund based on the unexpired term of the contract, with a reasonable notice period (not longer than 30 days). They could also reasonably withhold the value of the discount that they give you vs the more expensive short terms contracts. But to offer no refund and require in my case an 11 month notice of cancellation is in contravention of the law. This wins them no friends and certainly isn't the kind of customer service that they say they aspire to. In my view a no refunds/no cancellations policy is just a cynical way to make money of customers who are locked in once they sign up. Their terms and conditions are also much too long, with a dozen different sections and the general terms and conditions alone being 3,670 words. All designed to get you to sign up to standard terms that are unfair and unreasonable and in contravention of UK law.
In her email of 17th February 2012, Abigail Bragg, Credit Controller at Fasthosts Internet claimed that our company owed £1,977.60 as the balance owing on two servers that had been on 12-month contracts. As such, the Skanky Contract terms are written by Fasthosts in the usual obligatory fine print, hidden in the depths of a marketing offer deep within their website. Also, since signing up with the Fasthosts service in October 2009 and having been a customer from quite a number of years, Fasthost never provided our company with an actual real printed contract or Service Level Agreement document. Accordingly, we never thought about or reviewed the Skanky Contract provisions, or even knew where to look on the Fasthost website if we did want to review them at any time. We then got hit with a big bill, which has now been paid in full. However, this was after Fasthosts got very aggressive and nasty, appointing debt collectors whom use hassling vtechniques such as repeated emails, repeted calls and threatening language. We feel The business practices and the way that fasthost administer their contracts are deceptive and we consider it to be a ‘shady’ business. We have been grossly wronged, and we feel aggrieved and cheated. Unless you wnat to suffer the same fate, DO NOT under any circunstances do business with this company. If you already have, and you have suffered a very bad experience at their hands, the take the following action: complete the online ombudsman complaint form at: http://www.ombudsman-services.org/forms/complain/communications/ you can also submit a complaint with Trading Standards Service, Hillfield House, Denmark Road, Gloucester GL1 3LD. We have initiated complaints with these organisations and with other industry trade organisations to address this unscrupulous business practice

They have good products at competitive prices, and the support is OK. Better than any other UK hosting company ive used.
CONFIRMED FASTHOSTS EMPLOYEE
I have been with Fasthosts now for 2 years and have never really had an issue with them. It's strange to hear all the negative comments you have on this site. They have always been easy to get hold of and very helpful when i have had any questions about my reseller account.
FASTHOSTS INTERNET LTD GLOUCESTER, without my authorization and knowledge, has submitted a $1.00 authorization through my credit card account. I immediately researched this company as I am an SEO Manager to report my findings to my creditor. With my SEO skillsets I've discovered numerous complaints against this company submitting unauthorized charges and lack of customer support. I've exercised extreme CAUTION taking immediate action to ALERT my creditor together STOPPING this unauthorized activity IMMEDIATELY to prevent "FASTHOSTS" attempts to submit present and future charges!!!!! MY COMPLAINT went to the FRAUD department of my BANK about FASTHOSTS ' UNETHICAL practices. Clearly I know if FASTHOSTS is a SCAM, right?
Terrible service, refuse to acknowledge cancellations then threaten you with debt collectors when you do not pay. How do you get away from them? Do not use them under any circumstances. Not even an Ombudsman to back us up. Unless OFCOM would take it up?
I recently spend almost £140 with FASTHOSTS to transfer my domain from my provider I've been with since 2005, and MY GOD I WISHED I HADN'T!!!!! THESE PEOPLE HAVEN'T A CLUE WHAT THEY'RE DOING and what makes this worse if that they have overseas support!I was with FastHosts for THREE DAYS and I mived back to my original ISP. They have NO IDEA how to manage DNS, MAIL, ASP.NET sites and if I see ONE MORE "Error 500" error message I swear I will SMASH up every server I see and hang myself from a tree with the cables!!I cannot stress enough - DO NOT (I REPEAT...) DO NOT touch this company for your web hosting. They are quick to take your money, but... aaaarrrrgggghhhhhhhhh!!! I AM SO MAD with them I CANNOT EVEN BEGIN TO EXPRESS THIS IN WORDS!! I F**KING HATE THIS COMPANY!!!!THEY ARE WORSE THAN HOPELESS AND THEIR FOREIGN (SCRIPT READING) "SUPPORT" staff aren't worth the air they breathe!!!!!!!!My current ISP's server talk to each other - this (for anyone who is new to netwokring) IS A VITAL PART OF THE INTERNET and DNS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How can this even be legal?! I received a letter and several emails recently pursuing me for money for an 'outstanding balance'. The account, was my mothers but she replaced my contact details for hers when she became too ill so I could handle any correspondence for her.My Mother then died of her illness in March 2011 and her credit card expired. Even though no authorization was given. Fasthost tried to extract more money from it (after her death) for a continuation of service. When they were unable to do so have been pursuing me for the money.Even though I have informed them twice by phone of my mothers death, they continue to tell me they are 'unable to process the closure of this account' and continue to rack up this 'debt'. (now standing at £64.66) I have no access to her account control panel and no access to the death certificate and Fasthost stonewall me when I tell them the situation. This company is demanding money from me for a service forced onto a my dead mother after her death that she obviously did not authorise.
I stupidly bought a domain name through fasthosts without doing any kind of research through a site such as this. I regret that now, but if I can make sure someone learns from my mistake I will take that. When I registered the name I got no confirmation email to say I had bought so I called their sales/helpline (I seriously now think this is a ploy to make you call them). The sales guy was very apologetic of course and soon got on to the fact that I hadn't bought any hosting. I was planning on adding it when the site project was taking off. The sales/con artist convinced me to take a months 'trial'. Beware as soon as you agree into any kind of hosting you are forced into a year contract, which they'll only tell you about when you try to close your account. The helpline to close the account is very aggresive and unhelpful - unlike their sales - and actually very intimidating. I've just managed to close my account after two years of them taking money out of my account. I sincerely hope this company goes out of business and I have no sympathy for any of them that lose their jobs because they are al compicit in the trick. Avoid at all costs.
Fasthosts are terrible. I would really advise you not to open an account with them. You'll never be able to close it. I have been trying to close my account for months. You have to do this online in writing, there's no way of closing it from the control panel. Whenever you do write to them requesting closure, they email you a reply a few days later saying they've been unable to get hold of you to confirm the request, the account isn't closed and they continue to bill you. Their service is poor too. I wish I'd never set up an account with them.
